Denis
O'Brien
President & CEO, PECO
As President & CEO of PECO, Denis P. O’Brien
leads the company that lights up the Philadelphia skyline and
brings hope to PAL centers and the communities that surround
them. For several years, PECO has sponsored PAL Day at the Zoo,
making it possible for hundreds of PAL girls and boys to spend
a day at the Philadelphia Zoo, complete with free admission,
lunch, prizes, face painting and a private petting zoo. PECO
has also been a consistent sponsor of PAL’s annual Award Dinner
and Golf Classic. Furthermore, PECO employees devote significant
volunteer time to the Police Athletic League in various ways,
including sitting on the Board of Directors, chairing committees
and working with the youth in the centers. |

Maureen
S. Rush, M.S., CPP
Vice President for Public Safety, University of Pennsylvania
Maureen S. Rush joined the PAL Board of Directors
in 2002 and quickly became one of the organization’s greatest
champions. Now serving as the PAL Board Secretary, Rush is an
integral component of PAL’s success. In her time with PAL, she
has made it possible for the Tucker PAL Center to receive funding
for a new van. She served as Chairperson for the 2008 Award
Dinner, overseeing the first PAL Dinner to hit the $1 million
mark. She’s made thousands of dollars in donations happen for
PAL, and also orchestrates a hugely popular University of Pennsylvania
ice skating field trip for hundreds of PAL kids every winter.
These are only a few examples of her steadfast dedication to
the Police Athletic League. |

Jeremiah
Trotter
Linebacker, Philadelphia Eagles
Jeremiah Trotter, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker
and perennial fan favorite, may be best known for his heroics
on the football field. However, Trotter’s impact in Philadelphia
and the surrounding area and his dedication to charity are just
as admirable as his athletic skills. His most active role is
with his own Jeremiah Trotter Foundation. The foundation is
committed to the awareness and elimination of diabetes through
research and education. Included in the foundation’s efforts
are providing monetary funds for other non-profit organizations
dedicated to increasing the level of knowledge about diabetes
and helping the inner city public education systems develop
more informative health programs, including preventative practices
against diabetes. In addition, he runs youth football camps
and lends his time and energy to many charitable organizations
throughout the tri-state area, including the Police Athletic
League. |
You won't want to miss this very special evening! Please join in the
support as we recognize all of these deserving honorees. |
